It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas here at WIHQ, OK maybe not a lot like Christmas, but a bit. Mainly thanks to the inclusion of the ‘Krampus’ article in this issue of the magazine. Whilst the only tangible connection between Christmas and Wargames Illustrated is usually the tempting array of goodies on offer from our advertisers, this December, with the help of A list contributor Pete Brown, we have managed to crow-bar in another connection as Pete brings us a skirmish wargame featuring the infamous anti-Santa Krampus.
Our theme for this issue is the decidedly un-Christmassy ‘Machine Gun’. We explore the use of this game-changing weapon on the battlefields of history and the tabletops of our wargames, with a focus on development and gameplay.
Other article treats for the festive period come in the form of a Rules Showcase for the new Osprey game Ghost Archipelago, a Designer’s Notes for forthcoming vehicular combat rules Gaslands and the visual treat that is Ian Smith’s award winning 40mm Peninsular War game. Plus, loads more besides!
Merry Christmas and happy reading.
