Every year Wargames Illustrated makes the Historicon painting competition happen, working in collaboration with show organisers The HMGS, we collect in all the entries, display them, judge them and award the converted trophies to the winners.
This year’s entries were divided into ten different categories, with two ‘bonus’ categories of ‘Best of Theme’ (the theme being End of Empires) and ‘Best of Warlord Games’.
WI337, the November issue of Wargames Illustrated, will contain photos of the top three entries from each category, but for now let’s take a look at the winners….

BOT-FB is the BEST OF THEME (as judged by the convention director) and goes to John Miller for his French Cuirassier.
BOW-FB is the BEST OF WARLORD GAMES (as judged by John Stallard) and goes to Michael Jacques for his Japanese Chi-Ha.
