The German PaK 40 anti tank gun was one of the main guns used by the Wehrmacht during WW2. From 1941 more than 23,000 PaK 40’s were produced and saw service in all theatres of war. Their gun crews usually consisted of six soldiers.
The kit provides all you need to table 2 PaK 40’s together with their crews of six figures. Upon opening the box I was surprised to find the two sprues are actually semi soft plastic like the figures I grew up with. The guns are both depicted with their trails open although conversion to closed would be relatively straightforward. Construction is easy and the parts push fit together without the need for glue. Crew figures are nicely detailed in a variety of poses and inform variations.
All very straightforward then and a nice addition to the 1/72 gaming table but what about that semi-soft plastic. Well it certainly makes the guns and figures very durable and reduces the possibility of breakages. However, It also means the gun barrels have a slight bend in them and I do wonder how well the plastic accepts paint. If neither of these points are an issue for you, this is a good product.
Pros: Easy construction, Popular scale, good detail
Cons: Semi-soft plastic
Scope: WW2.
