This one falls outside of the wargaming specific releases we usually cover – an audiobook version of translated military instructions from the Prussian King to his Generals – but it is such an oddity that we felt we needed to take a peek at it!
Ex-Battlegames Editor Henry Hyde has put his dulcet tones to good use narrating an audiobook version of Frederick the Great’s Instructions to His Generals, which should be of interest to any Horse and Musket era enthusiasts.
The full audiobook runs to just over three hours and covers the full range of articles Frederick the Great penned while at the height of his powers. These cover strategy, tricks, and ruses of war across 28 sections and will offer a treat to anyone intrigued by or gaming this period.
We have a brief audio sample for you to try out, as voice appeal is a huge part of listening through any audiobook.
You can also download a PDF extra from the author that lists the chapters and shows the battlefield layouts and tactical diagrams created for the original publication.
If this is the audiobook for you then it can be found at Wargame Vault for the price of $5.99 US.
