Forge of Doom offer a small but extremely characterful range of fantasy miniatures with a cinematic look. Most of these have a somewhat villainous look and would look good as the elite warriors and leaders of any ‘evil’ army.
Each figure is offered to purchase singularly, providing a level of choice that not every company offers.
The first figure is perhaps the most ‘leader-like’. Entitled The Dark Prophet, this figure is clad in half armour and clutches a helm, all decorated with a snake motif. The same motif continues onto the paired daggers sheathed at his waist and he wears a cloak.
The next figure is entitled Luctator the Merciless, a moustachioed warrior clad in leather armour and wielding an evil looking barbaric blade. His face appears more concerned than dangerous, perhaps exploring a dungeon or castle.
Next comes Hammersen the Grim, again clad in decorated leather armour with a helm and wielding a double-handed Warhammer. A scowl on his face and a ready stance, this feller is just itching to smash someone.
The Warrior of Doom wears a pointed helm and scale armour, standing ready for action with a cruciform design sword and a round shield. Again, he’d make a good dungeoneer or adventurer, if one with a touch of darkness about him.
Finally, we have the Temple Guard with sword, clad in slightly Eastern looking clothes and wearing a full-face helm. His sword is fairly plain, but his round shield is decorated with the same snake motif as that which graces the Dark Prophet.
These figures are very well sculpted and are evocative of the classic fantasy movies of the 1980s. Packed full of character, they would work in a number of game systems, perhaps Frostgrave, Dragon Rampant or similar fantasy type skirmish rules. They’re well worth a look by any gamer who’s searching for something unique amidst a sea of lesser fantasy offerings.
