The new year brings with it a change of scenery here at WiHQ, or more precisely an addition of scenery. Our insatiable appetite for top quality photos in the magazine means we are always on the lookout for new background fodder in the form of scenery and terrain of every variety.
Trees are of course a staple on the wargames table and, when looking to spruce up (pun intended) and add to our tree stock, we began prodding around the interweb for miniature arboreal models. After much musing we decided to place an order with Debris of War.
Among barricades, barrels, stowage, tents and more, Debris of War offer a line of ‘finished scenery’ which includes 21 different ‘made to order’ trees, ranging from 50mm to 180mm. Being greedy we placed an order for a total of 75 trees – 15 different types or heights.
The tree frames are made from white metal castings with the larger trees being multiple parts, soldered together. They can be supplied based or with the base cut off and a pin inserted for planting. We ordered the based variety.
In an effort to comprehensively show what Debris of War have on offer, what follows are photos of more model trees than you have probably ever seen in your life, maybe more than you ever wanted to! Hopefully it’s enough pictorial information for you to make up your own mind about what’s on offer, with just a quick note from us to say they are very good and reasonably priced at £5 each for the 70mm trees up to £16.50 for the 180mm deciduous.
Enjoy your virtual walk through the woods and we’ll have more from our ‘Change of Scenery’ feature next week.
