Artizan Designs have continued their range of 28mm Victorian Science Fiction with the addition of the 17th East London Rifles. This regiment of renown has seen action everywhere from the siege of Lucknow in India to the fall of Fort Elizabeth on Mars, and veteran troops they look too.
Depicted in a science fiction imagining of the Victorian Home Service uniform, these troops have spiked pith helmets and additional goggles to keep out the thick Martian dust. They have uniform tunics, trousers, gaiters and boots and wear breast plates for extra protection. The troopers carry full packs and what look like repeating rifles; they are clearly ready to deploy at the first sign of trouble. The range contains five private soldiers, one NCO and an officer, who is carrying a pistol and sports a rather spiffing handlebar moustache.
The miniatures are very nicely cast in action poses, mostly advancing with weapons at the ready. There is very little flash on the miniatures and all the kit, uniform folds and facial features are nicely defined. They would be ideal as a faction in In Her Majesties Name or for your games of Space 1889. If Steampunk is your game, this range is definitely worth checking out.
