Rewarding our plucky figures for their heroic deeds on the tabletop is not easy. Whilst medals for personal valour and honours for regiments are common on the battlefields we seek to emulate, it’s tricky rewarding our pewter and plastic warriors.
As part of our Battle Honours theme for this issue of Wargames Illustrated, we suggest some ideas for awarding honours to our models and players, mimicking those of real warfare. We also provide a brief introduction to the history of battle honours, and a couple of our articles this month feature honourific actions and regiments for you to game.
SAGA second edition is coming! And in this issue we have an interview with author Alex Bushel in which we pose your questions (thanks for all the FaceBook posts!) about the new game. We also take a look at another new game which is causing quite a buzz, Gangs of Rome – this month’s Rules Showcase will give you the lowdown on how it plays.
Happy reading and gaming.
P.S. US readers – please bear with our English love of the letter ‘u’ i.e. honour, valour etc!
