Footsore Miniatures continue to support their Dark Age range, adding mounted warriors to supplement their infantry. However, work continues apace on their new venture, a set of rules with streetwise, toga wearing thugs battling amidst the filthy streets behind the splendour of Imperial Rome.
Having fast raiders or flank guards for your troops is always useful, so the new Irish Cavalry figures are very welcome. There are three packs in total, with four rider and mount figures in each. We’ve focused on the Noble Cavalry. The four riders are suitably clad in expensive looking cloaks, furs and armour. They come with shields and are cast with hands through which a spear may be pushed. The horses are nicely done, and the riders sit upon them very well. The animation in the faces of the riders and their poses are suitably active, either grimly charging forward or screaming their battle cries. These are Irish warriors through and through, ready to vanquish their enemies and lead their brethren into glorious battle. Lovely sculpts and well worth adding to your collection.

In other news from Footsore, work continues apace on their upcoming Gangs of Rome rules. Although many think of Rome as being the glorious seat of a globe spanning Empire, away from the Senate and amazing public buildings, life could be hard in the rank alleyways and back streets of this sprawling city. Of course, where there are back streets and poverty, there will always be thieves and cutthroats, vying for control of the resources available. This is where the rules come in, guiding players through a myriad of encounters and ensuring that the reputation and turf acquired by each gang is maintained or added to. The first of many miniatures is now available. All of them come with a stat card, special ‘jigsaw’ base and a unique Romanesque coin that all aid gameplay. We hope to feature more about the game in a future issue.

As always, these are high quality castings of excellently sculpted figures. I am sure that we will continue to see more new releases from this prolific company.
