Sally 4th have provided us with one of their resin kits from the Albedo Combat Patrol Miniatures Game, ACP164. This is an AV8B Armoured Personnel Carrier, one of the variants available.
Designed to represent a late war version of an AV8 APC, these kits are supplied unpainted & un-assembled. In the game universe, the AV8 series APC is the standard tracked, low profile vehicle, capable of carrying eight fully equipped infantry and a driver. Powered by a small fusion plant, the vehicle provides protection against small arms, as well as limited protection against missiles and large-calibre weapons. The AV8 has firing ports to allow the passengers to use their sidearm if required, as well as a post mounted 10mm M2-50 HMG, which is fired by a critter from an open hatch.
This particular version has stowage bins mounted along the length of the hull, above the track guard, which are an optional extra. The kit can also be constructed as the earlier version if desired, using stowage sets and other items available from the company.
The model’s dimensions are Height: 40mm, Width: 75mm and Length: 120mm. All the resin parts are cleanly cast and fit together very well, with the option to add hatches, trackguards and more.
These would fit into any sci-fi universe which aims for a sense of ‘realism’ rather than a ‘gothic’ or overly-exaggerated look, or could even function in a Near Future setting. A great model, with some excellent applications.
