Sally 4th will soon be presenting a Kickstarter to launch Albedo Combat Patrol, ACP164, a new 28mm science fiction miniatures game set in Steve Gallachi’s “Albedo Anthropomorphics” universe. Prior to the completion of the Kickstarter, there will be a comprehensive initial release of miniatures, such as those shown here.
The miniature range has been digitally sculpted and the figures are supplied as multi-piece metal castings to allow a wide variety of troop types to be depicted. The miniatures have been designed to overcome many of the problems associated with multi-piece metal castings. Heads are cast with a neck that finishes in a pin that locates in a hole in the body; where possible pairs of arms are cast as a pair, holding a weapon with pins at the tops of arms that locate in to holes in shoulders. This ensures that components align perfectly and are easy to glue together.

The Albedo comics feature a vast range of sapient mammals, so using the multi-part approach enables the creation of figures for all the species that appear in the comic. The Albedo Miniatures game is a new gaming concept. Consequently, there are few, if any, ranges of anthropomorphic sci-fi miniatures available on the market. Although intended to use with these new rules, these figures would make a useful set of different warriors for use with any sci-fi rules.

These are very well-sculpted figures with sensible proportions. The variety of heads available means that you can theme your army as you wish, aiming for one species or a variety. You could even use human heads from other sources and still end up with some excellent sci-fi miniatures. The figures and game concept have that uniqueness, something ‘different’, and that stands out in a market that is pretty much saturated. Overall, this is a welcome option for sci-fi gamers, backed up by a proven game system that covers a host of genres.
