Rubicon Models have added yet more top-quality model kits that are suitable for the more discerning wargamer. And again, they go that extra mile by providing another set of variants ‘in a box’ for a ‘classic’ armoured fighting vehicle and another example of typical anti-aircraft support.
The Panzer IV is one of the most iconic and widely produced tanks in the German arsenal. Serving in every major theatre where the German forces fought, the basic chassis was used to create a myriad of differently armed vehicles for use during World War Two.
The Panzer IV Ausf F / F2/G/H kit includes 5 frames with parts to create either version, which were produced up until 1943. The joy of a Rubicon kit is the attention to detail – assembly is simple, but there is an awful lot of ‘scale modelling’ detail which other kits lack, plus pieces of stowage, etc. Some of the parts for the exterior of the tank are pretty small, but the effort is worth it for those who want an accurate kit – sure, you can take shortcuts with some less detailed models, but for those who want their wargaming models to look as accurate as possible, Rubicon have you covered.
JamesValentine also commented –This is one of the three new Panzer IV kits.
This one is built from the F/F1/G/H kit.Absolutely beautiful kit. Some accessories off their 1/56th Panzer IV D/E.
Very much closer to a scale model than a wargame piece due to the parts count and options available.
The next kit is the 2cm Flakvierling 38 anti-aircraft gun. The options available on the single frame allow for the use of a static or wheeled mount, and there is a crew of for and an ammo trailer. With a little work, this could be converted for use with the Panzer IV chassis to create the Mobelwagen or Wirbelwind variants or even used with a U-boat kit!
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: when you buy a Rubicon kit, you get a model kit that can be used for wargaming. Rubicon can be relied upon to put the scale model concept first, then provide enough robustness in their kits to provide longevity on the tabletop. The fact that they always add in extra parts and all the options makes these some of the best kits on the market.
