Sometimes, it’s important to add as much as possible to the tabletop to create a realistic environment. Rubcion Models gets this, and have created a Scenery Series which adds walls, fencing and other items to the exterior elements of the battlefield. Yet what of the interior aspects of buildings?
Well, Rubicon have you covered there as well, with this plastic kit of Domestic Furniture. Inside the box, we have two identical sprues that allow for the construction of 2 bedroom sets, 2 dining table sets and 2 Bistro table sets in the French, cast-iron style.
The bedroom set consists of a single bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The dining room set is four chairs and a table and the bistro set is one round table and three chairs.
This type of ‘scatter’ terrain would work in both skirmish and urban setting games, and has a much more realistic look than much of the MDF furniture you can buy. The fact that it is 1/56th scale makes it seem quite small, but it works well with miniatures in a similar scale and, let’s be honest, you won’t be trying to get your metal and plastic figures to use it!
An unusual but useful product from Rubicon Models, better known for their high-quality WWII-themed armour and other vehicles. For those who like a more realistic tabletop battle area, these will no doubt prove to have a number of uses.
